This is a collection of individual cars, each selected for its performance specification or build. The evergreen performance guide compares the kinds of ownership experience; these profiles show the details and evidence attached to particular examples.
Compare the factory configuration before comparing individual asking prices. A modified car, an earlier drivetrain and a later plug-in model can share a familiar badge without sharing the same ownership proposition. The profiles below keep seller claims and availability dates visible.
Three pedals and V8 character
Start with the factory-manual CTS-V configuration, then assess the actual car’s clutch, gearbox and modifications. Automatic CTS-Vs belong in a different driving comparison, even when engine output matches.
Compare the exact E63 S generation with the RS 6 Avant. Identify the fitted brakes and suspension before requesting replacement-cost estimates. Do not apply one AMG generation’s drivetrain description to every E63.
Evaluate charging access and actual driving needs alongside an M5 Touring or V60 Polestar Engineered specification. Separate combined system power from engine-only figures, and ask for a charging demonstration.
A tuned or engine-swapped wagon needs its own evidence trail: installed hardware, calibration, fuel requirements, workmanship and road-use compliance. Advertised modified output is not a factory rating or proof of durability.
This is an editorial shortlist framework, not a reliability ranking. Factory horsepower references and their manufacturer sources are in the performance wagon buying guide. Dated asking prices below are seller observations, not valuations.
