The U.S. Acura TSX Sport Wagon combines a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, front-wheel drive and a five-speed automatic. The factory wagon was not the manual-transmission or V6 version of the TSX sedan. Its buying case is a useful cargo body and a relatively straightforward choice of specification, not a hidden factory performance trim.
Scope: U.S. TSX Sport Wagon, using Acura’s 2011 introduction and 2014 model and specification releases. Imported Honda Accord Tourers, TSX sedans and modified cars are separate subjects.

The TSX name is easy to search incorrectly. A general model lookup can return the sedan’s shorter body, six-speed manual or 3.5-liter V6. Acura’s own 2014 release says the wagon was offered exclusively with the four-cylinder and five-speed automatic. If an advertisement describes a manual or V6 wagon, investigate whether it is a conversion, a misclassified sedan or a different-market vehicle. 2014 model overview.
Base vs. Technology Package: what are you paying for?
Technology is an equipment choice, not a different wagon engine. Acura’s launch material lists navigation with a rearview camera, upgraded ELS audio and a remote-operated power tailgate among the package’s features. The 2014 release again identifies Technology as the wagon’s available upgrade. 2011 press kit; 2014 overview.
Whether that package is worth more depends on what still works and what you will use. Test the camera in daylight and shade, every audio channel and every way of opening the tailgate. An old navigation system does not automatically provide modern phone integration. Test your phone’s actual connection and controls; do not buy from a generic equipment list.
A well-maintained base car may make more sense than a neglected Technology car. Conversely, a functioning power tailgate or preferred audio system may be worth a premium to you. Turn that preference into a specific test and a repair allowance rather than assuming the trim label guarantees value.
Why do TSX wagon cargo figures say 60.5 or 66.2 cubic feet?
Both numbers appear in Acura literature. The 2011 introduction gives 60.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The 2014 specification release gives 31.5 seats up and 66.2 folded. Those releases do not establish, by themselves, that the physical cargo area grew by the difference. This guide preserves the model-year attribution instead of selecting the largest number. 2011 reference; 2014 reference.
For an actual purchase, floor shape and the hatch opening can be more important than either published volume. Bring the folded stroller, instrument case or a cardboard template of the intended crate. Check it with the rear seat occupied if that is how you will travel. Inspect the underfloor storage, cargo cover and folding-seat hardware rather than assuming every removable accessory is included.
Use the cargo-fit measurement worksheet to record opening width and height, wheel-arch width, load length and closed-hatch clearance.
What to inspect before buying a TSX wagon
Start with identity and records
Match the VIN on the body, title and service documents. Ask for maintenance invoices, not only a history-report logo. Run a VIN-specific NHTSA recall check and confirm completion with the servicing dealer where necessary. A recall lookup does not replace a mechanical inspection.
Assess the engine and automatic in real operating conditions
Arrange a cold start, check fluid levels and leakage, ask how much oil is added between services, and road-test the car until warm. Have an independent technician assess noises, fault codes and shift behavior. Acura lists chain-driven camshafts for the four-cylinder; a seller’s vague claim that “the belt was done” needs clarification about which component was serviced. Acura engine specifications.
Inspect the parts that make it a wagon
Open and close the tailgate repeatedly, check the rear wiper and washer, fold and latch the rear seats and inspect the cargo well for water. Examine rear-body repairs from inside as well as outside. Confirm the spare-tire equipment and removable cargo accessories are present if they matter to you.
Put consumables into the purchase budget
Ask the inspector to estimate near-term tire, brake, suspension and fluid-service needs. Compare two cars using purchase price plus immediate work. These checks are an inspection brief; they are not a claim that every TSX wagon has a particular defect or a statistical reliability rating.
Is the TSX Sport Wagon the right alternative?
Shortlist it if you want a compact luxury wagon, are content with front-wheel drive and an automatic, and find a documented example that fits your cargo. Look elsewhere if factory AWD, a manual or a V6 is essential. A modification project can be appealing, but it introduces a separate engineering, paperwork and service-history investigation.
Can you get a factory manual TSX wagon?
Not in the U.S. factory specification documented here. The manual option belongs to the four-cylinder sedan. A manual wagon requires further explanation and evidence.
Does Technology add more power?
No. It changes equipment; the documented wagon retains the same four-cylinder and five-speed automatic.
